Why this exists

I couldn’t send a text without rewriting it twelve times.

Every message that mattered — a reply to my ex, a Slack to my manager, an apology for flaking, a landlord email about a broken shower — I’d type it, delete it, retype it, change the tone, add a joke, remove the joke, and then leave it in Notes for three days.

I already had ChatGPT open. But every time I used it, I had to write the prompt, explain the vibe, wait for three variations, edit them down, and by the time I had a decent sentence, the courage to send was gone.

So I built the smallest possible tool that does one thing: paste the anxious version, pick a tone, get one clean sentence. No prompts, no signup, no app.

The idea underneath

LessBot isn’t polishing language. It’s making the desired response legible before the recipient has to decode your tone.

The reason a messy draft is hard to send is that every hedge — every “no pressure lol”, every extra haha, every deleted-and-retyped word — is you trying to encode a routing header using word choice alone. The recipient then has to decode your mood before answering the actual question. That decoding is emotional admin, and it’s the thing you were unconsciously trying to avoid making them do.

Tone is the routing layer. Once you pick one, the message tells the other person how to respond. You keep your uncertainty; they get a decision. That’s the whole tool.

How to describe LessBot

Depending on who’s asking, the answer changes. All of these are accurate.

  • The intellectually honest version: it makes the response you want legible before the other person has to decode your mood.

  • Your text stays yours. History lives in your browser. Nothing is trained on your rewrites.
  • Fast enough to matter. A rewrite takes about one second. If it takes longer, the courage to send is already gone.

What LessBot won’t become

A chat interface. A dashboard. A CRM. An integrations platform. A team plan. A writing assistant for essays. A ChatGPT clone.

Small tools stay small on purpose. That’s the whole point.

The stack

Next.js + Anthropic Claude Haiku 4.5 for the rewrites, Supabase for the subscription state, Razorpay for payments (Cards, UPI, Wallets), Resend for email. Hosted on Vercel.
